Atas Cafe Kota Bharu sits comfortably in Kota Bharu’s Lembah Sireh area as a café where a mix of locals and visitors come to unwind over carefully crafted drinks and a diverse menu that goes beyond typical café fare. It’s a spot well suited for morning catch-ups, casual lunches, or afternoon breaks, especially when you’re craving a blend of sweet pastries and hearty mains.

The vibe here leans toward relaxed and spacious, making it a go-to for groups as well as solo visitors looking to settle in without feeling cramped. Despite its reputation for being “atas” (upscale or premium) in the Kelantan context, the atmosphere keeps things approachable but with a thoughtful layout that supports lingering. Seating includes an upper floor, which provides a quieter space, though it’s worth noting it might be less accessible for those with mobility concerns.

When it comes to the menu, the café impresses with variety. Among the highlights are drinks like the matcha latte and hazelnut latte, praised for their authentic and balanced flavor profiles. Pastries—ranging from blueberry cheese croissants to Portuguese egg tarts and delicate vanilla choux desserts—arrive fresh and appealing, reflecting a careful attention to detail. For heartier options, dishes like chicken chop, aglio olio spaghetti with fresh shrimp, and even some pizzas have received positive nods for surprising taste and solid portion sizes.

Staff interactions here tend to feel genuine and thoughtful, with instances of honest service standing out in reviews and local chatter. The space itself manages to stay clean and peaceful, an inviting contrast to the busy streets outside. A small but practical perk is the availability of free plain water, a considerate touch in a Malaysian café.

Visitors should plan around parking challenges, as spots can be limited, and arriving early tends to offer the best pastry selection. Timing a visit during the daytime or early evening to catch the calm atmosphere works well, especially if you prefer a quiet spot to chat or work. Rainy days might bring a cooler indoor climate that some find refreshing, though a jacket could come in handy.

Overall, Atas Cafe Kota Bharu resonates with those who appreciate a café that merges a broad culinary offering with a genuine local feel. It’s well-suited for anyone wanting a comforting place to enjoy both sweet and savory, whether dropping in for a matcha latte fix or settling down for a meal with friends.

My first time here, we ordered their pizza as our main course, I didn’t put much expectations but surprisingly it tastes super good. I forgot the pizza’s name but I loved it so much. Would love to try other pizzas during our next visit. Everything we ordered is super good, luckily. I love the atmosphere, very tenang to chill and lepak. They got provide free plain water too. Toilet was clean, & comes with very aesthetic ambient.

Tasty food. One of the best chicken buttermilk rice ive eaten around KB. Even the aglio spaghetti had fresh shrimps . Great taste for fish n chips sauce too. Other than that, clean and peaceful environment,, except it was very cold that day when it was raining outside. Staffs r friendly and honest too. Ive dropped some money in front of the counter and staff handed it back to me. Thank you! Will come again.

Hear that this is the most “atas” cafe in Kelantan. Visit this cafe before on board, it’s near to the airport just 25 mins away from airport, can come here and chill, nice environment. Pizza is nice, hazelnut latte is the best among all the drinks we ordered. The pastry is nice too, ordered Black Forest cake and double chocolate pound cake, chocolate is rich. Other than these, there are many more pastries too!

I love the pastries here, especially when I come early during opening hours—they have so many choices! The main course are also delicious, and the coffee is good. However, parking is extremely difficult to find. The customer service could be improved, and it's worth noting that the place is not very elderly-friendly as it requires climbing to the first floor.
